I've been working on these for almost a whole month now and I am thrilled to share the final pictures of the five completed roses. Fair warning, there are lots of pictures in this post. The colors of these roses were so much fun to work with! I spent so much time with each rose that I wanted each one to have it's own portrait taken, so there are a few pictures here. Enjoy the slideshow!
After I get these babies packed up tonight I will start working on another rose in the same style for a separate order. Then, just yesterday I received yet another custom order for a Potted Spotted Phalaenopsis Orchid plant from a previous customer. Really excited about that project!
I really am going to finish that Gerbera Daisy tutorial, I promise! Last weekend I was unable to find extra time. I just need to take pictures of assembling the leaves and potting it. Then do all the editing for the tutorial.
I only have 2 or so spaces left for custom orders for Christmas! Of course this depends entirely on the size of the custom orders. I might be able to squeeze in a few extra if they are smaller. The rest of my time will be spent making presents for my own family and trying to stock my shop with some of the newer designs I've been dreaming of. If you want on my list, please contact me soon!
I'm so sorry that I'm talking about this again, but it's taking a whole month to finish this order and I haven't figured out what else to blog about. I've considered doing interviews for fellow crafters and artisans. Or sharing the DIY jewelry and beading tutorials I've found around the web. I just need time to sit down and figure it all out and time is one thing I'm short on. Until then, I hope you will enjoy seeing pictures of the flowers I make!
So I'm working on a custom order for 5 of my large french beaded rose stems. I finally have one of them completely finished. Tada! I also have another one, in pale gold, partially finished. But it's not ready for pics yet.
I do have all the pieces made for the other roses made and ready to go, I just need to put them together. That's what I'm doing this week. Then I have a separate order for another red one. :) So in all I will be making 6 of these roses this month.
This winter I will be working on some bridal designs as I will be opening a separate Etsy shop specifically for weddings. I decided on a separate shop because wedding accessories and such have a completely different audience and customer base than home decor. It took a long time to come up with a name for it. I wanted it to be a different than the other french beading shops and businesses I've seen on the web, but still imbuing the idea of beaded flowers. I'll share the name once I'm ready for the grand opening! I'm quite excited about all the designs my brain has been dreaming up. Can't wait to share those!
My current shop, Lauren's Creations, will be the home of my custom beaded flower stems, arrangements, and some of the general accessories that aren't bridal specific. I have so many earring and necklace ideas to try out. But I will also be expanding into wire wrapped and bead embroidered jewelry as time passes.
Once I, hopefully, reopen my Zibbet shop in 2015 it will be fairly similar to my Lauren's Creations shop. All my bridal pieces will remain on Etsy as it has a larger bridal audience. :)
In other news, my Facebook business page has jumped from 172 to 220 in one week. I'm feeling rather humbled that so many people like my work! It's rather inspiring and makes me want to work all that much harder. It's a little strange too. I'm a fairly shy person, and knowing that so many people could be reading what I write and post makes me a little nervous.
My fingers are sore. Why? From all the lacing I've been doing on this custom set of 5 Large Rose stems. 80 petals down, and I still have a whole 'nother set of petals to make and lace. :S
I don't know why I have such a hard time photographing these rainbow finished beads. The dark orange is the only one that's accurate. The light orange shows too yellow and the salmon pink is too pinky (It's not a bubble gum pink I promise!) and the gold isn't really that yellow. I am using natural light, so I don't know what gives. Maybe it's my computer and not me or my camera?
I'm still waiting on the red beads to arrive! :S So for now I'll just be making the bunches of leaves I'm going to need.
I mentioned that since I have custom orders that will take me well into October, that I was going to reserve the weekends to work on the patterns I'm wanting to publish for sale. This past weekend I started on the pics for my Beaded Gerbera Daisy pattern. I'm excited about it! I wasn't able to finish it though, as my children were filled with demons and it didn't feel right to leave my husband alone with that kind of nonsense, so I will do more work on it this upcoming weekend. :) Look for it in my shop soon!
Here is a little sneak peak of my Gerbera!
I'm not going to be selling ALL my patterns, as some of them I'd like to keep to myself, but I will be offering some. Another one I will be doing soon (maybe next month?) is for my Bearded Iris.
