It's been a while since I updated. Almost a month I think... Anywhoo, let's post these flowers I've made the past few weeks. These were all part of an order for one customer. She's got a brand new Southern Magnolia, a lavender Ruffled Rose, and two yellow Roses. :)
I always enjoy making these Magnolias. They are sentimental to me. And I really loved being able to make something purple. I've had these lavender opal beads for a long time but never had the right thing to make them with. Lavender is one of my very favorite colors.
I was actually late on this order. There were days when I just couldn't do anything at all. I've finally gotten some medication that helps me keep food down, and it's finally starting to take affect, so I think I'm back in commission... for the most part. Still exhausted. And because my uterus decided to be weird instead of normal it's tilted backwards and pushing on the nerves in my back, so it hurts to move (that should go away soon). But at least I can eat food now, even if no matter how much I eat I still feel like I haven't eaten all day. My husband joked that maybe we are having twins, and I cried. I don't remember having to eat this much food with my first two...
So, with regrets, the Berry tutorial is not finished yet. Gah, I know. Again. Dang-it, Lauren. I barely managed to get these flowers done and I was late. I'm so sorry this is getting dragged along for so long. :( I appreciate your patience with me.
Because I will be having my third child in January, I've been thinking long and hard about how I want to proceed with my business. I have custom orders right now through October. After that I will be taking a long maternity leave. I really don't want to spend the last few months of my pregnancy stressed out about getting orders out on time. I'd rather be painting my nursery, or possibly making something special for the nursery or for family members. So I've had to turn down a few custom requests for later this year. I'm not going to take any custom work until March 2017 at the earliest, and I don't plan on taking many orders at all. Certainly not as many as I've had this year. Babies are very demanding little creatures, and since I already have 2 other children who will still need attention and a mommy to love them, I imagine I will not have a great deal of time to work. I have already had to turn down two wedding orders (one of them quite large) for next year, and that was really hard for me to have to do, but I just have no idea if I'll be able to guarantee time frames. Instead, for the rest of 2016-2017 I will be focusing on designing new flowers and making whatever suits my fancy in whatever extra time I do have. My idea list keeps growing, but I haven't had much time to work on anything new yet this year. I will still be producing patterns, since I can work on my own schedule with those, though I'd like to start collecting a few of them to save for a book. :)
For my next order, I am working on a couple of Irises in some fun color combos. :) One will be yellow and purple, and the other will be pink and burgundy.
